Reading and Language Arts

  • Focus: Students will be able to identify elements of a story such as character, setting, problem, and solution.

  • Vocabulary Words:  

  • Assessments- Wirting sentences on a given topic using all 3 forms of punctutaion (.,?,!) Revising and editing past work, fix it sentences. 

Science

  • ​​​Focus: I can demonstrate an understanding of science and explore the world around me. 

  • Domain Vocabulary- senses, shadow, rainbow

Writing

Writing Goals 

  • I put finger spaces between my words.

  • I use my beginning sounds in my words. 

  • I use my ending sounds in my words. 

  • I start my sentence with a capital letter.

  • I end my sentence with a period. 

  • I add details to my writing. 

  • My writing has a beginning, middle, and ending. 

 

*Be sure to make a BIG DEAl when you can read your child's writing without their help. We do this in the classroom. It makes a big difference in their confidence! Also make sure they are sounding out the words and you are not helping them spell the words.*

Math

  • Focus:  I can measure objects using nonstandard measurments. 

  • Go Math: n/a

  • Domain Vocabulary: taller, shorter, lighter, weight, heavy

  • Assessment: Measuring items. 

Social Studies

 Focus: Students will be able to recognize the importance of the men in their lives.

Study Skills

  • Practice ABCs by identifying sounds and matching uppercase with lowercase letters.

  • Practice counting to 50 at home. Counts by 5's and 10's as well.

  • Ask questions after reading a story to help with listening comprehension.

  • Practice fluency by reading often. 

  • Ask your child to help you spell words.

  • Handwriting practice using primary paper
